About

In SFCMPs Masterclass series, audiences observe Bay Area preprofessional music students as they learn from our renowned ensemble members in front of a live audience. Students perform contemporary pieces that were selected by the students. The students perform the music while being mentored in master techniques andskills used in contemporary music. These classes are in collaboration withSF Conservatory of Music and attendance is required by students in the home department that is hosting the class. In our How Music is Made lecture series, we bring composers from the Bay Area and across the country to join SFCMP in rehearsals and on stage to share with the audience their motivation behind their music. Every concert is preceded by our How Music is Made open rehearsal and composer talk. All talks are free and open to the public. These talks are video recorded, edited into a 20-minute segment and distributed to high school music teachers to act as a supplement to their curriculum.San Francisco Contemporary Music Players large-ensemble concerts (3), chamber concerts (4) and community event (1). talk.
