THE ANNUAL NEW YORK CITY HEMOPHILIA WALK RAISES AWARENESS OF BLEEDING DISORDERS WITHIN AND OUSTIDE OF THE COMMUNITY. THE ANNUAL NEW YORK CITY HEMOPHILIA WALK RAISES AWARENESS OF BLEEDING DISORDERS WITHIN AND OUTSIDE OF THE COMMUNITY. IT ATTRACTS THOUSANDS OF PARTICIPANTS,GARNERS MEDIA ATTENTION, AND RAISES CRITICAL FUNDS FOR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES. NYCHC EDUCATION DAY BRINGS PEOPLE AFFECTED BY BLEEDING DISORDERS TOGETHER FOR CRITICAL LEARNING, SHARING, AND SUPPORT. THE DAY ATTRACTS MORE THAN 300 AFFECTED INDIVIDUALS. SESSION TOPICS INCLUDE MEDICATION ADHERENCE, DEALING WITH INHIBITORS (IMMUNE RESPONSE TO MEDICATION), ISSUES FACING WOMEN WITH BLEEDING DISORDERS, ACCESS TO CARE INCLUDING INSURANCE, LIFE TRANSITION ISSUES FOR AFFECTED INDIVIDUALS AND CARETAKERS, AND MANY MORE. THIS EDUCATION LEADS TO BETTER ACCESS TO CARE, BETTER SELF-CARE, AND IMPROVED OUTCOMES. NYCHC ALSO PROVIDES PROGRAMS AND SERVICES DESIGNED TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO SPECIFIC POPULATIONS WITH THE COMMUNITY. FOR EXAMPLE, DAD IN ACTION IS GEARED TOWARDS DADS IN THE COMMUNITY WHO EITHER HAVE A BLEEDING DISORDER OR HAVE CHILDREN WITH A BLEEDING DISORDER; CONNECTIONS IS GEARED TOWARDS FAMILIES WHO ARE EITHER NEW TO HEMOPHILIA, NEW TO BLEEDING DISORDERS, OR BOTH.
