About this organization
Mission
The mission of the Unity Gardens is to improve wellness by connecting our community to healthy food, nature, and one another. Through the LaSalle Square Unity Garden, a 7 acre urban ecosystem, we support the 30 - 50 free food neighborhood Unity Gardens by guiding their horticultural efforts, sharing their stories and harnessing donations of seeds, plants, and materials to facilitate their growth. We host free classes, growing new gardeners, and our summer wellness programs help us invest in future generations; summer internships, recipe sharing, and Garden Guides who offer individualized fun in the garden. Through our dignified free food experience, we attract people into the gardens, literally growing community!
