HORIZONS ATLANTA IS A FREE, INTENSIVE, SIX WEEK SUMMER ACADEMIC AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAM THAT SUPPORTS UNDER-PERFORMING STUDENTS FROM DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES OVER THE COURSE OF THEIR ACADEMIC CAREERS. IN 2015, HORIZONS ATLANTA SERVED 420 STUDENTS ACROSS METRO ATLANTA. 100% OF HORIZONS STUDENTS QUALIFIED FOR FREE/REDUCED LUNCH. HORIZONS STUDENTS DEMONSTRATED BETWEEN 2.7 AND 3.5 MONTHS OF GROWTH ON THE NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED STAR ASSESSMENT OVER THE COURSE OF THE SUMMER-THE SAME TIME PERIOD DURING WHICH STUDENTS FROM LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES TYPICALLY EXPERIENCE AN AVERAGE 2-3 MONTHS OF SUMMER LEARNING LOSS. PROGRAMS WERE HOSTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COLLEGES AND INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS ACROSS THE REGION. KENNESAW STATE UNIVERSITY AND GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY EACH HOSTED THEIR INAUGURAL SUMMER PROGRAM-JOINING ATLANTA TECHNICAL COLLEGE, CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY, GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, HOLY INNOCENTS' EPISCOPAL SCHOOL AND WOODWARD ACADEMY.
