Mission

Blue Water Baltimore's mission is to restore the quality of Baltimore's rivers, streams and Harbor to foster a healthy environment, a strong economy, and thriving communities.

About

Stormwater reduction - Blue Water Baltimore's stormwater reduction efforts aim to reduce the volume of rain water runoff, or stormwater, flowing into storm drains and streams from institutional properties, and is an overall effort to reduce flooding in streams as well as to reduce nutrient, sediment, and other pollution from entering local streams and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay. In 2018, Blue Water Baltimore collaborated with interfaith partners to unite an array of faith leaders and congregants in a connection to their watershed and in a mission to be better stewards of the earth. Together, we mobilized 39 congregations engaging over 770 volunteers who planted 293 trees, installed 4,000 sq. ft. of native plantings, removed 850 lbs. of trash, and harvested 3,205 gallons of rainwater all of which treated 122,272 sq. ft. of impervious surfaces.
