Mens Firstep- Mens Firstep Residential Recovery Program provided services to 278 individuals. Up to 70 men can be served. Firstep is a therapeutic community model were peer support is emphasized as an important aspect of recovery. Community volunteers lead 12 step meetings. The program lasts 6 months to 2 years. Fees are on a sliding fee scale. No one is turned away because of inability to pay. Referrals are accepted from throughout the state. There is 24 hour on-site supervision and random drug and alcohol testing. The program provides case management, GED classes, parenting groups, and life skills training. Most residents work 30 to 40 hours per week in the community. Mens Firstep received a large grant for a 20 unit apartment complex. An additional 20 to 30 hours per week of programming is offered on campus and through community partnerships.
