Meals on Wheels provides hot, healthy and delicious lunch time meals to seniors and those who have difficulty leaving their homes and are unable to prepare a meal for themselves. In FY 19, over 2,700 dedicated volunteers traveled across the city to deliver not only the hot meal, but to also provide daily safety checks and opportunities for socialization. Fifty-four volunteers offered additional socialization and friendship to 58 clients through the Friendly Visitor Program, and the 33 Animeals' volunteers delivered over 20,000 pounds of pet food to 210 seniors who would otherwise risk their own health to share their meals with their animal companions. The Comfy Casas program improved living conditions by providing fans, air conditioners and heaters to over 300 seniors during the summer and winter months.
