THE LUPUS FOUNDATION OF AMERICA LONE STAR CHAPTER IS DEDICATED TO IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL PEOPLE AFFECTED BY LUPUS THROUGH PROGRAMS OF RESEARCH, EDUCATION, SUPPORT, AND ADVOCACY, SERVING 204 TEXAS COUNTIES, FROM AMARILLO TO TEXARKANA, DALLAS/FORT WORTH, AUSTIN, LUBBOCK, SAN ANTONIO, THE VALLEY, AND EL PASO. IN THE 2018-2019 YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION: RESPONDED TO 2,020 INQUIRIES AND SENT 1,000 WELCOME PACKETS TO NEWLY DIAGNOSED LUPUS PATIENTS. EDUCATED 1,402 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH SEVEN SUPPORT GROUPS, 11 TELECONFERENCES,THE RALLY FOR LUPUS ANNUAL CONFERENCE, AND FOUR WORKSHOPS. THESE PROGRAMS ARE CONDUCTED BY PHYSICIANS AND CERTIFIED VOLUNTEERS. PROVIDED ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTER, "LUPUS NEWS," ISSUED MONTHLY AND DISTRIBUTED TO 22,000 CONSTITUENTS WITH UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION AND NEWS ABOUT LUPUS. CONDUCTED PUBLIC EDUCATION AT 55 COMMUNITY AND CORPORATE HEALTH FAIRS, REACHING OUT TO 9,100 PEOPLE. CONDUCTED SOCIAL MEDIA OUTREACH WITH REGULAR POSTINGS, INCLUDING FACEBOOK WITH 5,700 FOLLOWERS AND 5,850 LIKES, TWITTER HAD 1,547 FOLLOWERS AND 684 TWEETS, AND INSTAGRAM HAD 132 POSTINGS WITH 432 FOLLOWERS. HELD THE "WALK TO END LUPUS NOW" EVENT IN FOUR CITIES: DALLAS/FORT WORTH, AUSTIN, EL PASO, AND SAN ANTONIO. THE EVENT PROVIDED LUPUS AWARENESS AND EDUCATION. THE EVENT ALSO PROVIDED IMPORTANT REVENUE TO SUPPORT THE CHAPTER'S PROGRAMS AND SERVICES FREE OF CHARGE TO CONSTITUENTS. THE CHAPTER SERVED OVER 18,000 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH DIRECT SERVICES FUNDED BY THESE EVENTS. THE CHAPTER IS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE TEXAS COALITION OF PATIENTS, THE PATIENT ACCESS FOR A HEALTHY TEXAS COALITION, AND WE WORK FOR HEALTH STATE COALITION.
