THE HEALDSBURG MUSEUM & HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS CHARGED WITH THE PRESERVATION OF LOCAL HISTORY THROUGH THE COLLECTION, PRESERVATION AND PRESENTATION OF HISTORIC ARTIFACTS SUCH AS: FURNITURE, PHOTOGRAPHS, TEXTILES, MANUSCRIPTS, BOOKS, DOCUMENTS MEMORABILIA, EQUIPMENT, ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS, AND OTHER SUCH OBJECTS AS CAPTURE THE HISTORY OF HEALDSBURG'S LIFESTYLE, INDUSTRY, POPULATION, COMMUNITIES, ARCHITECTURE, POLITICS, AND OTHER SUCH ASPECTS OF THE TOWN AND REGION.

THE MUSEUM STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS HAVE REFURBISHED THE PERMANENT GALLERY. IN ADDITION, THE HEALDSBURG MUSEUM & HISTORICAL SOCIETY HAS RESEARCHERS WHO WRITE AND PUBLISH A SCHOLARLY HISTORICAL JOURNAL ON A QUARTERLY BASIS CALLED, "THE RUSSIAN RIVER RECORDER." PARTNERING WITH THE HEALDSBURG BRANCH OF THE SONOMA COUNTY LIBRARY, THE MUSEUM MAINTAINS AN ONGOING ORAL HISTORY PROJECT.
