Mission

The three-time Grammy award-winning Pacific Boychoir Academy (PBA) began as an after-school music program in Oakland, CA. Having started with just six boys, today PBA comprises over 160 boys and young men ages 4-18, in seven choirs, and is known for its rich sound, musicianship, phrasing, and talented soloists. The Los Angeles Times has described PBA’s quality of sound and musicianship as “astonishing.” PBA was established in 1998 by Kevin Fox, Founding Artistic Director. The day school started in 2004, PBA has become the only Choir School on America’s West Coast, where a full academic curriculum is integrated with daily musical instruction for boys in grades 4-8. The Day School music program is directed by Andrew Brown, Director of Choral Studies, and Marcia Roy, Artistic ProgramDirector.

About

Day School: Pacific Boychoir Academy day school seeks to develop confident, engaged young men who are capable of achieving extraordinary outcomes through personal discipline and teamwork. We provide an unmatched educational, musical, and personal development experience for boys in grades three through eight. With a student-teacher ratio of 1:3, and classes capped at 12 students per grade, our curriculum offers varied approaches to learning: hands-on projects, group work, creative activities and theatrical displays to provide a stimulating, active learning environment, appropriate to the strengths and needs of boys. We believe that boys are capable of much more than is assumed possible for their age; that they are eager for real-world accomplishment and opportunities to grow. We inspire them by providing a challenging but achievable goal and through membership in a world-class boys choir.
