Mission

Our mission is to provide culturally sensitive programs and services creating a Pan-Asian community that advocates for and supports itself. We believe the solutions to our issues lie within the deep wisdom and experiences of our communities, and that our organizational leadership, as well as our programs and services, should be reflective of this. We are continually striving to frame our work within a social justice lens, and believe that all children and families deserve equitable access to resources and opportunities in order to thrive.

About

NMAFC remains the only agency in NM culturally tailoring services for Asian communities. This includes the provision of direct services such as case management, counseling, and legal consultation, and representation for victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other crimes; as well as healing from trauma circles utilizing traditional modalities such as yoga and meditation; multigenerational family programming, prevention education and outreach programming, youth leadership development, cross-racial coalition building, civic engagement work, and advocacy and policy work. During the year, the Organization provided direct services (total 328 services) to approximately 238 clients primarily living in Bernalillo County, with some also residing in Sandoval and Eddy counties. In addition, 3,213 individuals participated in outreach events, workshops, civic engagement work, and multigenerational family programming-this number does not include presentations to mainstream organizations or media spotlights. 97% of clients served were low to extremely low income, and 85% received services in a language other than English.
