Hospice of Health First, Inc. provides comfort care to the terminally ill and their families by furnishing pain control and symptom management across the Health Care continuum (Hospital, Home, Nursing Home, & ALF), as well as educational and bereavement programs to enhance the coping abilities of families.In fiscal year 2019, Hospice of Health First, Inc. provided 95,134 days of care. Patients and families were provided a total of 16,944 continuous care of hours in the home. Volunteers gave a total of 15,226 hours of service to our patients and families. Hospice of Health First, Inc. includes a Field Program, The William Childs Hospice House and the Cape Canaveral Hospital inpatient unit, robust bereavement services.Bereavement services were offered to 1,750 surviving care givers. This included Support Groups, Social Groups, and the Bright Star Center for Grieving Children and their families. Major program accomplishments include: 1. Hospice of Health First continued defining and executing a community based palliative care program, and pursuing a Part B provider number. 2. Our bereavement teams continued to assess community needs and enhanced services to include suicide grievers support, sudden loss and trauma and partnered with the hospital system to reach out to families who suffered an unexpected death in the emergency room.3. Our community outreach held 37 events ranging from health fairs to public speaking education sessions regarding hospice care.
