The Fishing Schools(TFS) afterschool program improves studentsacademic performance, life skills and develops students ability to attain personal goals. The program serves about 400 students in 4 schools across the District of Columbia with continuous, long-term programming. The program consists of several unique features, including hands on, Common Core-aligned STEAM (science,technology,engineering,arts,and math) activities to help participants apply math and reading concepts, build exposure to science and develop critical thinking skills. TFS infuses technology into its program components, highlighted by the use of Intelliseeds, a fun, standards based online practice that also strengthens our students critical thinking skills. Also, students participate in life skills activities, college & career explorations, and enrichment clubs. TFSs parent engagement program, prepares parents and guardians to be active and enegaged in their students academic development.
